Skyward Inn by Aliya Whiteley

4.0

Unique and strange, this speculative novel will appeal to fans of Solaris and other "idea-based" SF. I say that because the center stage here is the theme of individuality, rather than a plot or a particular character. I found this fascinating! It's soft SF, with very vague worldbuilding that really lets the reader explore concepts.

Bullet review:
- Slow pace
- Slice-of-life
- Idea-based
- Soft Sci-Fi
- Body horror
- Great themes

I loved the struggle regarding the sense of self and individuality and how we may cling to that idea. I think that's an interesting human trait to consider and perhaps more anchored in western culture than in other parts of the world... Anyway, I cannot think of anyone I would recommend this to... but I loved it!
