I wasn't too sure about this one going in since it just didn't seem like a logical jump, but I gradually got more invested in Lark and Lachlan's relationship as the book continued. the pacing was a little faster than Butcher & Blackbird, which did make for a constantly engaging read! However, I also feel like there could have been more breaks in the pacing. And finally: RIP Ethel, I love her and wish we had gotten more from her.
