The book was enjoyable. I could really tell that the author is a woman of color and it was so refreshing to read about characters who happen to be people of color as opposed to the black caricatures in other stories. The family dynamics and love among them was beautiful to read. The lore and world building was consistent enough for me to feel immersed in the story immediately. The blend of Greek mythology and Black culture  was done in a way that reminded me of the Muses in Hercules, which I loved. Since this is a YA book, the characters didn't haven't much depth in personality developmen and the plot was predictable, but that's to be expected.  Overall a fun read.
