I'm a big fan of the Battle Royale film, and I've always wanted to check out the book. And much like the film, this book is super hardcore! It seemed a bit long in some parts, but I am truly amazed by Takami's ability to create 42 distinct characters.
Overall Battle Royale is suspenseful, clever, uber violent, and just plain awesome. I was sold on the epic ending and I would love to check out more Japanese fiction soon!
