The Ghost Junkies by Elizabeth J. Rekab

4.0

"I am a freak among other freaks, feeling better than I've ever felt."

Mel is a normal teenager. She is failing her classes and crushing hard on her bestfriend who dating a cheerleader. She is normal in every way, except sometimes she gets visitations by her dead dad. Soon, Mel realises that she is not the only one, there are more of them. The exploration in the Veil seems harmless at first but holds darker secrets, Mel knows she has to uncovers those secrets, but at what costs.

The book set in 1997, is a perfect blend of Fear Street (R. L. Stine) and 90s nostalgia. The references to the world of millennials with their music, mobiles with keys to tap, and the chats on the computer with your favourite people. (I may have missed some of the references, I am Gen Z, so I apologise.)

But the story was gripping and will keep you hooked till the end ( I stayed up with the boom the whole night, just to find out what happened to my favorites).

It is an amazing read for readers seeking books paranormal/spooky season genre. I strongly recommend you picking up this treat, find your comfiest chair and enjoy this with a pumpkin spice latte.
