This book is not what I was expecting, but I found myself enjoying it anyway. The writing style was simple and effective, I liked the dynamic of the friend group, and the constant, slow build-up of tension made it hard to put down, so it took me barely two days to finish. Without those vibes, I would be rating it lower since there's a substantial amount of mysteries that aren't actually solved; I don't mind some ambiguity, I prefer books where I can use my brain and find the subtle connective tissue of the mystery, but there's a certain point where I start to wonder whether that connective tissue exists at all.
I received this book for free. This review is my own honest opinion. The House on Buzzards Bay releases June 24th, 2025.
