A lot of the writing in this book felt unsatisfying; one word in particular shows up every few pages and drove me nuts. And it’s a bit more spicy than I’d usually go for, but that’s just a preference thing. It took forever to get to the plot/meat of the book. BUT I am thoroughly invested in the plot, now that it’s actually started. Guess it’s on to book two!
