Shoe Dog: A Memoir by the Creator of NIKE
by Norbert Leo Butz, Phil Knight
I enjoyed the beginning and the end of this book. I zoned out a lot in the middle for many reasons. 1) I had to increase my listening speed because it was almost due and I needed to finish quickly. 2) Many of the names and business titles ran together, as did the years (60s, 70s & early 80s). This was an interesting approach because it was told in story form and sometimes I wondered about the accuracy of Knight's memories. But, this is his story so he's allowed to tell it from his lens and he has some unique ways of doing things in business! I knew nothing about Nike's start (except that it was founded in Oregon). I recommend it to anyone who is interested in the creative process and hard work it takes to start a business.
