All Too Well by Corinne Michaels takes the brother's best friend trope and infuses it with real emotional journeys. Ainsley has loved Lachlan forever, but their history is tangled with hesitation, responsibility, and unspoken feelings. Because Lachlan is a single father, his responsibilities, his loyalty towards Ainsley's brother and not wanting to hold Ainsley back keeps his emotions locked away—until Ainsley comes back into Lachlan’s life years later.
One of the book's biggest strengths is its supportive cast of characters. Whether it's Ainsley's family or Lachlan's closest friends, there’s a wonderful warmth in how they show up for each other. Their presence makes the story feel lived-in and real, elevating the emotional journey. I especially loved Lachlan’s friends. Their funny harping and relentless teasing provide some of the best lighthearted moments. Their sarcasm and playful jabs at Lachlan elevated the heavier aspects of the story.
And most importantly, the romance between Lachlan and Ainsley, was filled with longing and chemistry and kept me reading on to find out what happens next. Although I wasn’t the biggest fan of Ainsley’s naivety towards sports, Lachlan’s character made up for it.
The narration by Connor Crais and Vanessa Edwin delivered a great performance and only enhanced the story for me.
If you love romances that mix emotional intensity with humor, this one's for you.
