I’ve never loved a character as much as I love Vera Wong.

I bought this book on a whim, and I'm so glad I gave it a chance. Narrated by Vera, Sana, Riki, Oliver, and Julia, this book follows the unravelling of a murder that took place in Vera Wong’s teashop.

What struck me the most about this book was its perfect balance of humour and heartwarming moments. I found myself completely invested in each character, and their relationships with one another were so genuine and well-developed. I LOVED Vera, her no-nonsense attitude and natural ability to command a room stole my heart. In fact, she reminded me so much of my own Nan that I couldn't help but fall in love with her.

Now, I know what you might be thinking - a murder book that's funny and heartwarming? But trust me, when I say it had me howling, it had me HOWLING!

I was surprised by how emotionally invested I became in the characters, and how much the story pulled at my heartstrings. And the plot twist at the end completely blindsided me - I’ve got to admit, I’m low-key annoyed I didn’t figure it out, I was convinced I’d nailed the murderer 🙃

Overall, if you're in the mood for a murder mystery that will keep you on your toes while also making you laugh and feel all the warm fuzzies, this is definitely the book for you. The characters are truly unforgettable and will steal your heart from beginning to end.
