Furies of Calderon by Jim Butcher

4.0

There is a lot to be said about Jim Butcher's ability to make such a, unique book.

Tavi is not your everyday hero; he doesn't have a fury
Spoiler although I kept waiting for him to develop some, and still am
and he isn't particular good at anything. But he WANTS. and TRIES to be MORE than he is. I love it.

And Bernahold is great. He's so steadfast and brave, I would follow him anywhere. Isana is his couterpart - loyal to a fault, and all she will not change for anyone. It's beautiful.

Basically the story is great, the characters multi-dimensional, and Butcher builds a world where magic is living - my favorite kind of music, so I may be a bit biased.

The only thing that I found a litttlee bit frustrating was that Butcher drops you into this world and lets you fumble about. I did not really understood what was happening until a quarter of the way through. And though it was frustrating to be muddling through, it was also a bit interesting. It made sure that you were actively reading.

So yes. If you were wondering whether to read Furies of Calderon , the answer is yes. Every time.
