Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert

Poor Madame Bovary!! Loved this novel and was only aware of one of the growing number of Julian Barnes referred contradictions in Flaubert's work while reading it. (See Flaubert's Parrot). A true French novel. Utterly enjoyable in it's sadness and drama.
