This book was a solid 3 stars for me for the first 3/4 of the book. The ending gave it another 1/2 star.  I liked the alternating POVs between Quinn looking for Esther in Chicago and Alex trying to figure out the mystery woman he named Pearl, in Michigan. I’m sure the intention is for the reader to think “Pearl” is Esther, but after a few chapters that didn’t ring true to me. I couldn’t figure where the agoraphobic Ingrid fit in for the majority of the book and the psychologist was a n unnecessary character. The ending was solid and nicely brought everything together.
