Uncanny Collateral by Brian McClellan

3.0

"Would you please stop being sassy with Death?"

Urban fantasy is not a genre that I gravitate towards, but I've enjoyed McClellan's Powder Mage universe a lot so decided to give this shorter book a read. Overall, it was a lot of fun.

Alek is a reaper, hunting down those who owe a debt to someone in the Other and collecting on overdue payments. Usually in the form of the person's soul. Fun, I know. There's also a jinn sidekick who is stuck in a ring, a necromancer, undead, imps, and all manner of supernatural happenings. It's a lot of fun.

If you enjoy urban fantasy with detectives and mystery, this one is a good one to try. It had a bit more swearing than I personally would like, but still an enjoyable story. Will definitely be trying out the sequel.
