Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky

4.0

Dramatic, cathartic, and rarely pausing to breathe, Crime and Punishment correctly deserves the reputation it has. Raskolnikov is a fascinating character, and the setting in which he finds himself is a challenge that could only work for someone like him.

Sonya is a godsend, Sridrigailov can burn, and Porfiry is a good counter to Raskolnikov.

It is not The Brothers Karamazov, however.
