beaaaaaa 's review for:
Bartleby the Scrivener
by Herman Melville
Although this is a very short book, I found it really hard to finish it.
First of all, I have to say this could be an enjoyable book: the style in lovely, easy but almost poetic and the story is strange and different, sometimes even fascinating.
However, I HATED the character telling the story. I did not only thoroughly dislike him as a person, finding him boring, flat and sad, but what really bothered me were his choices: through the whole novel he says one thing but constantly does the opposite. He presents himself one way, and acts the other, while complaining as if it were not his fault. I will not go further to avoid spoilers, but I was really annoyed.
Would recommend to nobody.
