This books synopsis had me instantly intrigued. Especially the mention of 'on the anniversary of 9/11' drew me in.

Unfortunately, I don't think the synopsis accurately describes the book's true story which only reduced my enjoyment and attention span for this book. And setting it on the anniversary of the tragedy seemed to be a cheap selling point as it did nothing other than to have people think 'oh no, not again'.

It is a thriller at its heart and had the synopsis been more truthful I would have certainly enjoyed it more but nothing pulls you out of a story than realising you're not in the one you thought you were going to get. Had it told me that I was about to read a climate crisis eco-thriller, I would have been invested a lot more.

The characters aren't very interesting either and the main parts I found to be enjoyable were the factual elements of how fucked we all are, how politicians are sold to the highest bidder and how disgustingly rich done people actually are.
