Audiobook - 4 hours 24 minutes - This was kind of infuriating to read - all the relationship drama was so low stakes but made out like it was incredibly high stakes. And then the only high stakes elements were revealed to be a lie anyway. The whole time, I just wanted to scream at the main character "JUST COMMUNICATE WITH EACH OTHER OH MY GOD". The only reason it is slightly forgivable is because the characters are teenagers, and teenagers are famously bad at open communication, but even still, it didn't make for an engaging plot line. I am not one to automatically hate on the miscommunication trope, but it has to be done well, actually make a point of miscommunication as a part of how humans interact with each other, and actually say something interesting. In this case, it existed purely to create a flimsy conflict, which didn't make the book feel very deep.
