Shadow of the Torturer boasts some of the most inventive and beautiful prose I've read in a fantasy novel, and is one of the most intriguing cases of the 'Unreliable Narrator' in genre fiction.

Now that I've finished The Book of the New Sun in its entirety, I can say without a doubt that it's my favorite work ever written.
