Did not finish book. Stopped at 30%.

I really tried to give this a shot because i owned the book and the concept of two isolated groups at the end of the world was really interesting to me. However, this is just DULL! The characters of color are all walking stereotypes, the main characters are obnoxious, the writing is so descriptive to the point of dragging on into boredom. Not to forget, we're supposed to feel empathy for the old man in this novel even though he admits to abusing women, leaving his wife and child, and fucking over everyone he ever worked with. Like??????? I don't care now you're sad you're all alone in life. White people really are something else I swear to god.
