An American Marriage
by Tayari Jones
3.5 stars. I really enjoyed the first half, but it slowed a bit for my liking in the second half and I wasn't sure where it was going or even where I *wanted* it to go. I didn't love the ending and felt the epilogue was TOO much of a nice bow to an otherwise (understandably) complicated storyline - in other words, I felt like the overarching point of the story was that relationships are/marriage is complicated, but then the epilogue seemed to suggest that "well yes, BUT everything sometimes works out just fine for everyone in the end as the universe intended." and it seemed to water down the rest of the book.
