I’ve been meaning to pick Frostblood up for a while and enjoyed my time reading the book. Frostblood is the first book in a YA fantasy trilogy. The book follows follows the typical plot of a YA fantasy- girl learns how to use her powers, struggles with what she’s capable of, and has a romance a long the way.

I did enjoy the book and will pick up the next one eventually, but it’s not on my immediate TBR. The author fell into the “tell, don’t show” group and the pacing seemed off. I wish she really delved into moments instead of focusing so much on plot. It reads very straightforward and isn’t too original. But it is a fun read for a YA audience looking to hear about power, grief, and a touch of romance.
