Long Way Down: The Graphic Novel by Jason Reynolds

5.0

An amazing adaptation of an amazing book. I love the way Novgorodoff separates the memories and the storytelling from what’s happening in the immediate in the elevator- dark gray watercolor vs the more realistic impressions. This was more separated and real for me than the novel. There was an immediacy to Will’s experience that the watercolor brought to life. A worthy read. Why does the title page say grades 10-12 and 14 and up? The violence is a little gory, I suppose- I mean, there’s blood—but the watercolor keeps it impressionistic.
