Seek You: A Journey Through American Loneliness by Kristen Radtke

dark emotional reflective sad fast-paced

3.0

This was a solid graphic novel that captured facets of the experience of loneliness. I’m unsure if I loved it, I felt that it could have dug a bit deeper or been a bit less broad. The section on Harlow’s monkey experiments (big cw for animal cruelty and death) seemed overly long for it’s purpose, and a lot of other sections seemed too brief. It’s also covering a pretty specific and narrow perspective on loneliness, resonating with me as a young white woman who has experienced the same “milestones” as the author, but I could see this absolutely not resonate with other experiences. It maybe just felt a little incomplete to me? But I liked the memoir elements and the art, all around a solid graphic novel for a brief study into loneliness in the US.
