If I wasn't reading this on a plane, I don't know if I would have stuck with it, to be honest. It's like it wants to be [b:The Girl on the Train|22557272|The Girl on the Train|Paula Hawkins|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1490903702s/22557272.jpg|41107568] or [b:Gone Girl|19288043|Gone Girl|Gillian Flynn|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1397056917s/19288043.jpg|13306276] but isn't quite up to the task. The writing and pacing did improve dramatically in the second half, and by the end, this is a book with some soul and tenderness. Not super well crafted, though.
