Infidel by Pornsak Pichetshote
4.0
October 2023. Horror graphic novel addressing xenophobia and racism toward Muslim Americans, set in New York City.
Overall this was a very strong and effective novel in its horror imagery and it’s messaging, without one drowning out the other. I recommend this. The perspective switch partway through didn’t work as well for me, and I felt the first chunk with our main protagonist was the strongest. The ending worked well but felt a bit rushed.
The art was horrifying, menacing, and evocative. It definitely piqued my interest to check out more work by the artist.
“Infidel” by Pornsak Pichetshote with art by Aaron Campbell, coloring by José Villarubia, and lettering by Jeff Powell.
