A big ol’ circle jerk sesh for everyone who was tricked into believing that the Strokes were important (for what it’s worth, I like the strokes, but they made 2 good albums). A book that is as much about rich kids doing cocaine as it is about any artistic movement. The book is totally incoherently edited. Half the time I had no idea who the current “speaker” was or what their place in the NY rock ecosystem was. There are completely useless digressions into non-NYC subjects like Ryan Adams, Conor Oberst, and The Killers. The author somehow managed to turn a book about a movement that did have plenty of artistic merit - LCD Soundsystem and TVOTR, to me, are Great Bands - into a bitchy, gossipy extended reality show.
But I finished it in the course of two plane rides, so, two stars.
