Damaged Like Us by Krista Ritchie, Becca Ritchie

5.0

SOLID 5 STAR OVERALL!!

Not only was the story everything I wish for in a romance novel, but I also loved the (perhaps unusual) narrator style. I really enjoyed how it is written like the POVs talk to you directly, using phrases like “you know this person as” etc, making it more personal and including the writer more in the story. It made me feel more connected to the story and characters involved and I think it might be the favourite writing style I have come across.

I was recommended this on the basis of it being similar to red, white and royal blue when it comes to the kind of “forbidden romance” and secret relationships that would not be approved by the families of those involved and I must say, that recommendation was gold!! Both red, white and royal blue and damaged like us are solid 5 star reads for me and I definitely agree with the reasoning for the comparison between the two.

I don’t really have a lot of experience with adult romance and fiction as a genre, but I absolutely loved this and am definitely going to explore both the genre and this series more!
