Spoiler filled summary and thoughts

Kayla is grieving her husband and meanwhile begins getting odd pieces of mail from a man in prison named Dante - he claims they've met before and he is smitten on her. Her house is also having electrical issues where the lights seem to flicker and her lightbulbs pop - she hired an electrician named Eddie and he claimed there are no issues internally but he did call out a guy named Aiden to come help with her leaky roof. Aiden is intense, tall dark- mysterious type of dude and helps Kayla for a 5k instead of 10k off the clock to fix her roof. Kayla joins a local grief group after the intense interaction with Aiden that left her almost breathless since dealing with her husband's death. After speaking with a girl named Madison, her daughter got kidnapped after she let go of her hand in the mall and there hasn't been any leads, and Madison told her the support group never helped she left. Kayla went straight across the street to the bar instead and it was right into Aiden she bumped. Kayla's penpal is still active, completely ignoring how skeeved out she is. Aiden is DTF but Kayla only ran to his apartment in fear when she was terrified that someone had broken into her home. Kayla wasted no time getting her poom pounded lmfao. After a sex crazed night Kayla finally has it in her to smile, finally catching feelings Aiden. She is feeling guilty later that night when she thinks of her husband being dead less than a month before she started smushing boots with a stranger. Aiden agrees to fix Kayla's roof after their time together. Kayla felt someone watching her from outside her home. I thought I was getting a pallet cleanser from mysteries and stuff but I was instantly thrown in when she found the coin had always carried around with him before his death - it used to be his grandfather's. Kayla found it right in the spot she had thought she saw a stranger spying at her from, but the wet ground showed no indication of it being disturbed with footprints or anything. Kayla witnessed the paranormal activity first hand in her house when things fly off her shelf right in front of her. I think Kayla is forcing herself to forget something and covering it all up with filling her time with Aiden. VERY interested in seeing where this book goes. Kayla's husband, Michael, had fallen off of their boat and drowned in front of her eyes and she heard laughter all around her afterward. She couldn't explain the laughter and never told the detectives. The coin that belonged to her husband Michael that he always had with him, she had stored it in her drawer after finding it outside. But now that same coin was found in her car after leaving her lover's apartment. Aiden claims he's building a house, too, but kind've avoided letting her know where it is. He got a lil darkness in him, too. Both of Kayla's parents died from medical negligence. Kayla feels like her security system isn't working after she had seen a boy on her lawn but the feed didn't pick it up whatsoever - the eerie thing is when she left the house to talk to him he disappeared. Kayla is dealing with some memory loss, too. Fiona the house keeper told her she knows she has spirits following her around. Kayla thinks her husband Michael is having a hard time moving on in the afterlife after speaking with Fiona. Bruh Dante is INTENSE! omfg "And I’d gladly give what love asked of me a thousand times over. Even if I had to do it every day until the end of eternity, I’d slice open my own veins with a razor blade and happily bleed myself dry." What the hell is wrong with this man and I STILL don't know what to expect of this damn book. Holy shit you know what I underestimated how powerful and intense their love is. The passion is super intense and the smut in the woods, how primal that shit was - hot hot hot. Aiden is a dominant man in the sheets and out, demanding his sweet bunny Kayla to give in to him slowly but surely. He seems to know exactly what she needs when she needs it, not only sexually. Aiden seems to be keeping a little secret poo though. I'm suspicious of Fiona, the housekeeper, a little. She was cleaning the husbands room after Kayla said she had asked her not to do that but her memory is a little off so she can't be sure if she actually had asked or not. OH SHIT Aiden had his arm around a brunette - but it was just Jake's wife. Aiden sends Kayla home and basically tells her he doesn't want to see her again until she's ready to take off her wedding ring. Kind've makes me laugh that he dropped her off at her house and immediately dipped. I'm finally on board with the idea that Kayla's home is still actually being haunted after the millionth time of someone knocking at the door - and no one being there at all. Plus strange instances of things being thrown, I wasn't expecting a paranormal book from this romance but I am pleasantly surprised! After Kayla agreed to a seance everything paranormal started happening at once, kind've solidifying that there is something going on in her home. Kayla is running from something and refuses to face her past. Holy shit whole time Kayla has been dead and Fiona is coaxing her into the afterlife. Kayla's husband did not drown, her husband drowned HER. He also killed Aiden, too. Dante was an anagram for Aiden when spelling out first and last name. Her husband was schizophrenic. Holy shit, he kicked her so hard that she miscarried thinking she had been pregnant by the alien broccoli. Michael ended up shooting Aiden in the head and drowning Kayla in the raging sea near her dead lover. Aiden was the one ringing the bell the whole time, trying to get her to realize that she had died, attempting to get her to see him. He was also there in the seance again trying to get her attention. During an interview with Michael and his psychiatrist, Dr. Templeman - he doesn't seem sorry whatsoever for what he'd done. He had a life insurance policy out on Kayla and believed he would get out of jail because he's insane and doesn't belong in prison. Dr. Templeman let him know it is a little unlikely due to him refusing antipsychotic medicine multiple times; he also had an affair with someone, making it seem like he wanted their deaths to happen. Since schizophrenic people can see ghosts, Kayla and Aiden both paid Michael a visit in the interrogation room - repeating boo into his ear to try and drive him insane.

Final thoughts

Holy FAWK the smut was hot hot hot. I literally am over here cheesing to myself and wanting to fan myself down from how badly I want to be manhandled like Kayla!!! Kayla get your man Aiden before I do 🤣 Favorite quote from THE Aiden," I know you think I’m strong. But the problem with strong things is that they’re brittle. They can’t bend under stress. They just break.” This book was fucking beautiful, everything just came together so perfectly. Their love story was so tragic but possibly one of my favorites. I'll keep my thoughts throughout my summary but I was wrong about so many things - thinking Aiden was the creepy one. I was wrong. Everything was perfect. No further notes. Fade to black. lol.
