Feast While You Can by Onjuli Datta, Mikaella Clements

2.5

unfortunately this one didn't really work for me. I think a lot of it had to do with me not particularly caring for the main character, Angelina, nor for the main relationship. I felt like if we had the POV of either Jagvi or the monster that this would have been a much more interesting read! tbh the ending made me quite sad and I don't think that's meant to be the case. it didn't get as weird as I wanted it to, and the sex scenes were pretty lackluster for my tastes. the climactic ending fell completely flat for me to the point where this morning I had to keep reminding myself that I did, indeed, finish this book.

I appreciated Jagvi's butchness and loooooved that she wore a packer and that was discussed! she was ultimately sooooooo much more interesting than Angelina and would have made for such a cool POV! and in the end I felt like she was done kinda dirty so I left disappointed. I loved so much about the monster until the ending where more is revealed, and this had me pining for a book like Leech where we're in the head of a creature with non-human desires. this had potential, but it fell flat in both the romance and horror categories, which is a real shame.
