Bird Box by Josh Malerman

You know how after you watch a scary movie you get creeped out by every noise in your house? This BOOK did that to me. I have never in my life had a book creep me out so much. And listening to the audiobook just made that creep factor even more intense!

I finished this book awhile ago but waited because I also wanted to watch the movie. And I'm glad I did because I INSIST that if you haven't done either yet- PLEASE read or listen it first. The movie was LAUGHABLE. I almost pulled a Joey Tribiani and threw the book in the freezer a la The Shining... it was THAT SCARY. The movie was too rushed. I felt like I was watching someone play Grand Theft Auto in the beginning with that craziness. And no one needs the love crap. Just a good honest scary book - with all the good, scary stuff. If I want a romance, I'll read a romance novel. My suggestion - skip the movie. Sorry, I love you Sandra, but no.

So, in case you don't know the premise of this insane thriller - something is out there. Something is outside, and if you see it, you immediately want to commit suicide. Creepy, right? The book follows Malorie and her sister, as the world starts to implode. This thing, gets closer, and closer to their home and soon all hell breaks loose. Malorie soon finds herself in a house with several survivors - and then alone, blindfolded, in a boat (what?!?!) with her 2 children.

The build up is INTENSE. The edge-of-your-seat-ness is REAL. You will literally not want to ever put it down. Even after you have finished. It's a true masterpiece of a horror thriller and I am a SERIOUS Josh Malerman fan now. I cannot wait to read everything he's ever written, and I will be reading everything he will EVER write.
