felt like it had amazing bones but wasted it’s potential. the characters were not fleshed out enough to carry this story. especially because the plot is so minimal. most of the interesting pieces of the story happen in flashbacks, which is not a good thing when you’re reading a book that introduces itself as a mystery. eve and jack’s romance wasn’t compelling, i never rooted for them. it was an odd decision to get rid of the only interesting character and pair off the cardboard cutouts with each other. mediocre.
