Arcade and the Golden Travel Guide by Rashad Jennings
5.0
This is the second book in the series, and I enjoyed it just as much as the first. I listened to the audiobook just as did the first. I loved book one so much that I purchased a physical copy for my son, and I will be buying this one, also. In book one, Arcade receives a magical token that allows him to travel to different places using a magical elevator. At the end of book one, the story left us with questions about the origins of the token. Book two answers some of those questions.
The story takes place in Virginia when Arcade and his sister, Zowie, return to their former hometown to visit their cousins Derek and Celeste. Arcade's new friend from New York, Doug, goes with them. There are new adventures for the five children and lessons about humility, generosity, and forgiveness.
As a mother and a Christian, I loved how the author included references to the Bible throughout the book. He did it with a light touch that was not the least preachy and would appeal to kids. When it comes to books that entertain kids and teaches them essential life lessons, you can't get better than this series! Happy reading!
