The Seeing Stone: Movie Tie-in Edition by Tony DiTerlizzi, Holly Black
3.0
A fun, light read. The novels in this series are incredibly short and this one didn't necessarily feel like a whole story in its own right, but it takes its lead from the previous story and leads onto the next one very well. Packed into 100 pages is a fair amount of character development and world building and lots of fun action. As a teacher, this is definitely a series I would read to my class, but I think it's also great for independent reading. The length, language used and clear action-based plot make it very accessible.
EDIT: Have now finished the Spiderwick Chronicles, I would say this is the weakest of the stories as it has the least impact on the overall plot, but that doesn't stop it being a fun, easy read.
