The Ballad of Never After by Stephanie Garber
4.75
A whole 4.9.
It was... crazy. Jacks made up for all being missing in the first book.Evangeline dying at the end and Jacks screaming made me shudder. I started to hate Apollo in just a single chapter. And what happened to Jacks? Will he survive? He will of course but stil...
I just felt betrayed when Jacks said he wanted another chance with Tella. But him losing the chance to save Evangeline was just swoon-worthy (Though I knew he didn't exactly 'love' Tella).
Jacks's behaviour made it really hard to know if he loved Evangeline or was just playing with her. But in the end... just wow.I loved jacks under the influence of the mirth stone. I loved Jacks when he shouted at evangeline saying she would die if she didn't leave (probably because of the truth stone). So basically I loved all the moments where Jacks's control cracked.
I feel so heartbroken for Jacks, the archer. To know that he overcame the archer's curse but then lost his first fox in a kiss is just plain cruel. I want to know the whole story about Jacks past. Each excruciating detail.
I loved the book so much.
