I will admit that I've read most of the rest of this series before reading this one for some reason. We're introduced to John and David, the principals of Alden Security, before they were together. They are both in the Army during the days of DADT and John rescues David and his team during a mission. The two men are drawn to one another, but DADT keeps them from being fully transparent. But that doesn't stop John from reflexively asking David to become his roommate. As the months and years go on, they come out to one another and pursue their relationship. It's a nice read following a couple through life changes and setting up the rest of the series.
