The Familiar by Leigh Bardugo
3.0
The Familiar by Leigh Bardugo sounded amazing, but sadly didn't really manage to grab me as well as I expected.
I absolutely loved the time frame, the setting, the atmosphere. It felt very well researched, and incredibly realistic, so I really walked right into this world.
However for some reason the characters didn't really, manage to grab me. I felt removed from them in a way, which also meant I didn't much care for the plot itself either.
I think it would have worked better for me if the "contest" wasn't the focus, but it would have had more focus on the actual characters and their life.
I still read this rather quickly, as the world building definitely kept me hooked all the way, but overall it's a 3/5 for me.
