Born a Crime: Stories From a South African Childhood
by Trevor Noah
adventurous

lighthearted

sad
tense
medium-paced
The only part I disliked was that events were told out of order (one chapter he's 18-19 and the next he's back to 9), but it was only confusing for the first page or two, the rest was smooth sailing. Still 5 stars, easy.
Graphic: Addiction, Alcoholism, Domestic abuse, Gun violence, Physical abuse, Racism, Toxic relationship, Violence, Murder
Moderate: Cursing, Injury/Injury detail
Minor: Racial slurs, Rape, Slavery, Suicidal thoughts, Colonisation
This isn't really a spoiler but I'll mark it just in case someone gets mad. Most of this is established immediately, the rest (which I vaguely touch on) is explained early on.
There's a lot of him getting "hidings", aka "spankings", but he was honestly pretty fine with it and understood his mom, so that isn't what any of the abuse/toxic stuff refers too
