i used to love this book, but now, rereading it after a few years... it’s like a hallmark movie, a guilty pleasure without any of the pleasure. it’s sickly sweet, feel-good garbage for white women who wake up at 7 and kiss their husband on the cheek before he leaves to his 9-5 desk job. it’s got everything - sisters, horses, and a bit of sex to boot! everything a bored, slightly-racist middle-class wife living in the suburbs of alabama could want.
