In book 3 of the Shattered Realms series, (a spin-off of Seven Realms, which one should read first,) after a trip into the past, picks up a few weeks or so from where the 2nd book left off.

Once again there are multiple characters sharing their point of view, some intertwining, but they all push the story forward, but not as quickly as one would hope. Though, at first, I had a hard time getting into this story. I took about a quarter of the story before I started to 'care about' the characters. But I think it's because this story started in the past, before the first book of this series, so it was confusing.

And with the amount of characters, there are those who are 'important but are lesser characters who got lost in the crowd of the MCs' chapters. Reading the book, I'm sure, would've made it easier to know who was speaking, but through the audio, it took me a few seconds to figure out who the chapter was about. And, while I knew the MCs were teenagers, I had a hard time believing some of the storylines.

Yes, I get war ages people, but why did a character get all offended over twelve-year-olds fighting, when they themselves, along with friends, were fighting, in the army, killing people, at that age. And one character I had a really hard time accepting that they became the 'best' in only a couple of years. I have the feeling that all of these characters started off as adults, but because YA started to get popular, their ages were changed so to fit the genre.

To me, this book feels more like filler, because there's limited action, and more going here to there, meeting him and her, along with planning and plotting.

It's not bad, and it is leading up to the last book of the series. The narrator was really good and had quite a few voice changes for the many characters.

Because this book felt more like a filler, I'm giving it a high...
