The writing really didn't work for me. It wasn't exactly bad, but something was just really off. Stuff happened too fast, scenes were disconnected despite happening right after each other and PoV changes were confusing time-line wise.

There was a strange focus of the main relationship that I found weird, and the way Finn and Josiah were still thinking of each other after 10 years wasn't believable to me. They get back together immediately after meeting without really discussing the events of the past which threw me off. Furthermore I'm honestly still not entirely sure what happened between them to drive them apart. There might be more revealed later in the book, but the fact that there was no real explanation before or while they got back together irked and confused me.

I really liked the baking show setup, though I wish there had been more about the TV show aspect of it. I was really looking forward to that, but as it was it felt more like a background thing that barely got attention.

The baking itself was great though, all the food sounded delicious and made me hungry while reading. It also gave me a lot of inspiration for cooking!
