Book Love by Debbie Tung

5.0

Book Love is a caricature to which you and I and all the book lovers, hoarders, sniffers, etc will relate.

Synopsis:
Have you asked a book hoarder whether they need more books? You haven’t? You should. Have you ever asked a book lover about which next read they are desperately waiting for? No? You should just gift it to them. This lovely little collection of comics is just that, a compilation of cartoonist and illustrator [a:Debbie Tung|16557741|Debbie Tung|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1504212452p2/16557741.jpg]’s best works revolving around the biblio- and bibliophile’s world.

Review:
I started following Debbie Tung @wheresmybubble on Instagram, sometime around January 2020. Later that year, I saw that her graphic novel “Happily Ever After…” was available for review on Netgalley. Since then, Book Love has been on my radar and finally, I read it in short bursts throughout the month of March and April.

This was such an endearing read, perfectly capturing all the strongest emotions of a reader and a hoarder. Be it the desperation of waiting for the release of the next book in our favourite series, or for the next release of our favourite author’s, or…you get the gist.

It feels like your life has been penned down, you’re the character that the author is talking about, albeit through herself. Whether it be our emotional association with reading or collecting all the editions of our favourite reads. But, it is a graphic novel that is best enjoyed, according to me, in small doses.

There is something for every kind of reader. Whether you are a multi-genre, solo, night owl, multi-book, e-book, or audiobook reader.

This is THE book to read if you’re in a reading slump. It reminded me why I loved reading so much in the first place, thereby taking me out of the slump. Even though I read only this till the 18th of April, I went back to reading multiple books at a time immediately after finishing this, and finished reading one of them, on 1st May (well, I was reading about a dozen at the time!).

Reading is an addiction, people! A healthy addiction.
