Possessive Puckboy by Eden Finley, Saxon James
4.5
4.5 stars
This was funny, hilarious, hot and a bit emotional too.
One thing I really loved was Connor's personal development: he started it in the previous book when he realised he's been too overbearing and protective (in the wrong way) of Easton to the point that his brother asked for a trade.
In this book, Connor has to deal with something from his past too: seeing Parker again after almost 10 years, pushed him to reflect and analyse his own behaviour. His journey is long, he hasn't all figured out and a lot of insecurities make him even more confused and uncertain.
I adored Parker, he's still that insecure guy from high school and his attraction to Connor is stronger than ever. I liked very much when he let go of the grudge and started realising that Connor is a good guy.
Their interactions are often hilarious, there were some scenes when I couldn't stop laughing, like when they were at the animal shelter or the morning after the night at the gay club (I actually wrote to Saxon to talk about that, since no one of my friends has read the book yet and I didn't want to spoil anything)
Connor is enthusiastic and passionnate and, despite not having intention to come out, he's still very attentive toward his man. Parker, instead, is more reserved and he gets embarrassed easily, he sweet and touched starved and he just want to be loved.
Their cuddle sessions are the best!
What prevented me from giving 5 full stars:
I didn't like the Kiki brothers' parents in Easton's book and I didn't like here either. Their behaviour when their sons were young was reprehensible and in the end they just easily dismissed their responsibilities.
I would have loved to see more possessive situations like the one at the animal shelter. I honestly thought Connor would have been more growling
In this book we get to see a little more about Lachie and I look forward for his story. We also have cameos from the other guys of the Queer Collective (I appreciated a lot how much protective Tripp was of Easton)
Next book will be about Novi, the Russian hockey player and someone from his past. I hope their book will be as good as this one.
Totally recommended.
I received an ARC of this book from the authors and this is my honest review
