I Will Follow Him by Holly Tierney-Bedord
5.0
After refreshing my memory on Goodreads, I knew I’d be in for a romance and it sounded like it was going to be funny. I will admit that I didn’t get much of an opportunity to laugh. But not because of the writing or the story!
Well, kind of because of the story. I read 2 chapters (so like 15 minutes of reading) before bed on the Monday night and noticed I’d read 16%. I then read on the bus to work the next morning and saw I’d reached 50% by the time I got to work. Read a bit more at lunch, then finished it before I got home!
This was so easy to read and enjoy. Which is the total opposite of Francie’s cruise trip. I mean, everything that could go wrong did go wrong in a way. I feel kinda bad for her and how she handled herself in the various situations.
I’m not quite sure I totally believe the romance of this story but it’s super sweet and it was so fun. And I loved the message that was being sent. Francie described herself as being pale, dirty blonde hair and nothing really to look at. Right near the end she even said she was a size 10 (size 14 for those of us in Australia or the UK). Which I don’t think is too bad if you’re average height, never exercise and don’t eat the healthiest of foods. I’d say she’s doing pretty damn well!
It was a bit of a shock to find I’d finished the book after all of her adventures, and misadventures, and I found myself wanting to know more about Francie and Eli’s relationship as it develops. I guess after totally surprising my with that one being so short and sweet it’s time to move on.
