Love Story by Lauren Layne

3.0

I love the older brother's best friend and enemies to lovers tropes, but these two drove me nuts. These two fight about everything. Reece's reason for hating Lucy is only in his own mind because he never actually talked to her about their relationship when they were teens. Lucy can't get over what happened in their past, and she just wants the truth, but whenever they argue and the past gets brought up, Reece shuts down the discussion. The back and forth got really frustrating and annoying because I just wanted them to talk about the past, so they could move on. I'd have enjoyed the story more if they'd hashed out their crap from the beginning and the book was about them rebuilding a relationship, and I was really annoyed with Lucy because Reece kept pushing her away and he said a lot of awful things to her (She did too, but that seemed to be from being hurt by whatever he said or did.), yet in the end she decided to chase him down AGAIN. I'd just one time love a woman to make the man grovel. Yes, you both messed up, you were both young, but constantly going after someone who keeps telling you they don't want you makes me crazy. Have some pride. He either gets his head out of his rear and comes to you, or you need to move on. I don't understand women who keep getting told they're not wanted but keep forcing things with the guy. If he's not grown up enough to talk to you about what the problem is, then he's not grown up enough to be in a relationship. Period. End of story.
