The Hollow Ones
by Guillermo del Toro, Chuck Hogan
dark
mysterious
medium-paced
The story was interesting but it took awhile to really get going. It should've combined the 1962 & 2020 timelines instead of being separate that would've made the book so much better! Because nothing really happened in 1962 that Odessa and John couldn't have done. I think the story should've started with odessa and really going into the possessions with her. Doing it the way they did made her story kinda slow and boring.
Ugh the ending was so rushed because it didn't start with Odessa so she (us) had to be caught up on a story that was already being told, you know? So playing catch up took up most of the plot and it made the ending really rushed! And I didn't like the ending where she was at the house listening to the tapes! That should've happened when she first found them or right after Earl asked if she had listened to them! Ugh this book was all over the place. This book really read like a movie script, it did a lot of telling and not showing and how everything played out would be really good in a movie but not a book. It's frustrating because it could've been better.
