The Zookeeper's Wife
by Diane Ackerman
This story is moving and suspenseful, beautiful and uplifting. I am a huge Diane Ackerman fan, and for the most part, I don't think this is her best writing. The research is impeccable, and her ability to flesh out history and fact into visceral imagery is fabulous, but when she tries to create narrative pulls the order of the story too far into fiction. At any rate, I loved it and would recommend it to others. It definitely makes me want to visit Poland.
