Okay, what?! I picked up Nine Month Contract expecting it to be light and fluffy, and now my entire heart is in Jamestown, on Fletcher Mountain, weeping with joy and warmth and sadness all in one. I have SO. MANY. FEELINGS.

This book is gorgeous and it is heart-wrenching. Trista’s journey is beautiful to watch while completely and utterly painful. She has never really know love or been wanted. She is independent through and through because she’s had to be. To see her settle into a family and learn to accept love and attention and feel valued was emotional and amazing to read. My heart is singing.

Nine Month Contract is also hilarious. For all its heavy content, it’s also filled with banter and teasing between characters who genuinely love each other and I laughed out loud throughout.

There are parts of this book that were hard to read. Stories of trying to conceive, of desperately wanting a baby but not being able to have one easily, of being abandoned and unwanted, made for emotions running high. There are a lot of points in this book that ring true to me, or that filled me with compassion and empathy that my heart aches for the characters, Wyatt and Trista alike. To see a family want to love so badly healed a piece of my heart. I really can’t say enough good about the love that is shown in these pages. Of anything in this book, love and (found) family is the heart of it and it is beautiful.

I am so in love with every one of these characters and I can’t wait to see what’s next for these mountain men.
