Short Bus Hero by Shannon Giglio

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Ally Forman is a 23 year old woman with Down syndrome. She and her friends--dubbed "the Cool People"--have an obsession with wrestling. Ally, in particular, is a devoted fan of wrestler Stryker Nash, who has been pushed out of the arena after his group was bought by a larger promotion. After winning a $300+ million lottery, Ally declares that she wants to use the money to help her idol return to the ring. Meanwhile, Ally's mother wants to use the money to set up a group home for Ally and the Cool People.

I liked the premise of the story. In particular, I thought the choice of narrator was particularly inventive. However, I felt like there were too many side stories running through the main plot--many of which were not fully explored. If the author had focused on Ally, with maybe one or two characters, there would have been a better flow to the story and a more satisfying conclusion.
