Piper Rayne upped their hockey game with The Trouble With #9
The trouble with number 9 is that he made me swoon, mesmerized me with his charm, made me want to punch him, and then made me fall in love with him all over again.
Paisley is my type of person, she follows the rules and would choose to stay home in the evening over going out, and she’s not one to take chances. I don’t think I’ve ever had so much in common with a character. She’s also witty, sweet, she’s genuinely kind and it’s clear she’s in the right profession, too bad that profession is completely wrong when it comes to the guy she’s falling for.
Maksim is all sorts of cocky and charming, he’s witty, fiercely protective of those he loves on and off the ice. He’s been on a streak of upping his penalties and the owner of the Fury wants Paisley to get to the bottom of it. Too bad Maksim isn’t talking.
I knew I would love this, and it was a given that I would laugh out loud, but what caught me off guard were the tears I shed with Maksim and Paisley.
Their chemistry was immediate, but the slow burn was deliciously intense with witty banter, and Maksim showing Paisley that he wasn’t like anyone else, his level of swoon worthy was beyond other book boyfriends.
I love these worlds Piper Rayne brings to life, whether it’s a family series or hockey team, a small town or a hockey arena, they make you feel like you’re a part of it, you’re a member of the family.
The Trouble With #9 is an exemplary example of everything I love about Piper Rayne’s writing. An engrossing blend of immediate chemistry, a scorching slow burn, a swoony hero, a sweet/sassy heroine, rife with witty banter, a dusting of feels, and an extra dose of intrigue on what’s to come from the Fury.
